Microdermabrasion and AHA Accelerator: A powerful skin combination

GlyMed’s AHA Accelerator makes a good companion to microdermabrasion treatments. AHA Accelerator smooths wrinkles and fine lines with natural acids, which also condition the skin for chemical and surgical procedures and  enhance their effects. The glycolic acid in AHA Accelerator works by causing the same high cell turnover as young skin, gently shedding older surface cells that have built up.

The glycolic and lactic acids in the AHA Accelerator also shrink pores and soothe skin that has been damaged by acne and acne scarring, rosacea, aging, and environmental effects. This serum is lightweight and hydrating, and contains the calming and antioxidant botanicals aloe barbadensis leaf, sage, and green tea so that your skin feels fresh and rejuvenated.

Microdermabrasion treatments use tiny crystals to exfoliate the top layers of the skin. This procedure evens out the skin tone and reduces the appearance of fine lines, age spots, and enlarged pores, giving the skin a refreshed look. Microdermabrasion is usually performed in a series of weekly sessions.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive way to reveal younger-looking, smoother, brighter skin. Some aestheticians also use microdermabrasion to increase the absorption and effectiveness of other skin care products.

Both AHA Accelerator and microdermabrasion speed up the process of removing dead skin cells through exfoliation of the skin’s top layers. Combined, they can complement each other’s effects to achieve fabulous results. If you’re interested in seeing what AHA Accelerator and microdermabrasion can do for your skin, call Qwella Medical Spa today!

March Spa Specials

Treat your skin to a little love this spring! Here at Qwella Aesthetica Med Spa, we want you to look and feel your best. This March, purchase Glymed Diamond Bright and receive a discounted Microneedling with Lightening Peel for only $175.

Why Purchase Diamond Bright?
Glymed Diamond Bright Skin Lightener is a simple cream to even out your skin tone and reduce unwanted pigmentation. Exposure to UV-B radiation increased the production of melanin in our skin, which worsens as we age. Diamond Bright Skin Lightener is one step toward smoother and brighter skin. Product features include:

  • Reduces pigmentation and controls further UV-induced pigmentation.
  • Features Lightening Drone Technology, in which micro-encapsulated peptides target damaged melanin-producing cells.
  • Includes botanical extracts Undaria Pinnati and Pyrus Malus to sooth and hydrate your skin.

Two daily applications are all you need for brightening your dark spots and a more even skin tone.  Diamond Bright Skin Lightener is suitable for all skin types and is recommended for hyper-pigmented and sun-damaged skin.

Complimentary Benefits of Microneedling
Uneven skin, scarring, and fine lines can occur no matter one’s age. Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure to stimulate your body’s production of new collagen and elastin to repair your skin. Microneedling is safe for all skin types and colors, with no risk of inflammatory hyper pigmentation. Benefits for your skin include:

  • Plumper, thicker skin and reduced age lines
  • Tissue regeneration for acne scars
  • Reduced pore size
  • Improved appearance of stretch marks
  • Stimulated circulation

Our March special also includes a Lightening Peel!  This processes uses mild chemicals to remove a small part of the epidermis, your skin’s outer layer.  As new collagen and elastin are produced, fine lines and mild scarring are repaired and reduced.

Skin rejuvenation is a process. With the combination of Diamond Bright, Microneedling, and a Lightening Peel, you can feel confident meeting spring with a fresh face.

Trust the Experts
At Qwella Aesthetica Med Spa, we’re committed to safe, smooth, complication-free treatments.  Our registered nurses and master aestheticians have a combined experience of over 30 years in medical aesthetics. Youth in a Bottle: REVISION Retinol Complete™

It's completely natural to want to have a more youthful appearance. Some lucky people look young for their age, while others appear old before their time. A proper skin care routine and the right products can make a huge difference in whether you age gracefully or just look weathered. Fortunately, REVISION makes a skin care line that can stop time, or at least appear to.

Features and Benefits of REVISION Retinol Complete

This revolutionary facial serum contains the power of five antioxidants and includes a proprietary blend of botanical extracts that enhance the effects of Retinol (pure Vitamin A) for reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Due to time-released Retinol you get maximum effectiveness with minimal irritation. This “youth” serum will brighten, plump and smooth the texture of even the dullest of skin.

How Does it Work?

REVISION Retinol Complete™ boosts your skin’s hydration level with Sesame Extract and Ophiopogon japonicas Root Extract, to help combat the dryness normally associated with Retinol. If you experience redness, irritation or excessive dryness, reduce frequency of usage. Retinol may cause some skin types to peel initially and can increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun. We recommend using sunscreen, or a product containing SPF daily, but especially when using this product.

Can it Work For Me?

Although results may vary from person to person, REVISION Retinol Complete™ works best on mature and oily skin types, but is formulated for all skin types. Results of a clinical study showed 100% of subjects experienced an improvement in the appearance of fine lines. The results are based on subjects using REVISION Retinol Complete™ once daily in the evening in combination with REVISION Vitamin C Lotion 30% once daily in the morning. It is not recommended to use REVISION Retinol Complete™ while pregnant or breastfeeding. Studies have shown that high amounts of Vitamin A during pregnancy may have detrimental effects.

Early use of products containing pure Retinol will help to combat fine lines and wrinkles before they become noticeable. With consistent and continual use, Retinol is effective in fighting the signs of aging.

Get the Most From Your Procedure: Combining At-Home Products with In-Office Treatments

At Qwella Medical Spa you can feel confident that all of your spa treatments will be safe and beneficial. In addition, we want your radiance to last and for you to get the most out of your beauty treatments. The best way to ensure that is by pairing our at-home products with our expert in-office procedures.

Qwella carefully chooses facial and body product lines containing quality ingredients known to enhance and maintain your in-house spa treatments. Caring for your skin should be a daily ritual and with so many products out there to choose from, it can be overwhelming. We offer our clients the best possible skin care products and take away the guess work.

After receiving one of Qwella’s beautifying facials we recommend going home with a product like GLYMED Gentle Facial Wash. It is a 10% Glycol cleanser that jump starts the cells into a cell cycling mode and potentiates enhanced penetration of treatment products. Excellent for all skin types, this gentle wash provides both untagging and exfoliation benefits and won’t upset even the most sensitive of skins.

Moisturizing is the most important part of the skin care regimen, and should not be skimped on. After a light chemical peel or another one of our treatments, we like GLYMED Daily Repair Mega-Moisture Cream. It is a lightweight vitamin, mineral, and glycoprotein cream that hydrates as it helps repair photo damaged and environmentally stressed skin. Alpha lipoic acid, lycopene and green tea extracts increase cellular energy and protect against the lipid destruction that causes premature aging skin.

If you struggle with “barely-there” eyelashes, Qwella offers an eyelash tinting treatment which creates more definition and appearance of longer, thicker lashes. We use specially formulated and safe permanent hair tints to achieve a natural look. After, we can send you home with LATISSE, an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes or REVITALASH Advanced 3.5, a proprietary blend for more dramatic-looking eyelashes. Daily use provides immediate conditioning benefits; leading to healthier-looking, more luxurious lashes.

Everyone wants beautiful skin and we can get you there, but not all skin care products or regimens are created equal. Age and skin type factor in on what treatments and products will be right for you. Whether you are just beginning your journey of self care or well acquainted with the miracles of medical aesthetics, the professionals at Qwella Medical Spa are available to create a personalized plan just for you and help you on your way to your healthiest, most beautiful self. Visit our website to learn more and schedule an appointment.

More than Skin Deep with Medical Aesthetics

“Beauty is only skin deep.” You may have heard this before - A timeless adage that has led many to believe that they can achieve the look they desire purely by focusing on what is immediately apparent. This philosophy has led to the development of countless cosmetic products, creams and serums meant to camouflage the traits that frustrated consumers are seeking to change.  These products have countless benefits, but provide a very short term solution that simply masks an underlying issue.

Perhaps you have become unsatisfied with the short-term benefits of these products, and really just want to fix the problem once and for all. Finally society has provided a solution through combining the rapidly evolving medical field with cosmetic spa treatments. Enter your more permanent solution: the field of medical aesthetics. Since its creation, medical aesthetics has expanded to treat a plethora of beauty concerns that individuals may have at every stage of life from acne to scarring, from undesirable veins to cellulite, from anti-aging treatments to body hair removal and more.

Medical aesthetics provides very fast results, and non-invasively treats problems from their source: The inside. By targeting a problem at its source, the effect becomes permanent or long-term, which not only ensures optimal results but enables you to move forward with your life with confidence – a trait which always adds a radiant glow.

… Might medical aesthetics be right for me?

Consider any appearance concerns when trying to decide whether one of these treatments may be right for you. Perhaps you feel uncomfortable with a particular part of your body, so much so that you go through regular effort to cover it up. This is time consuming, frustrating and sometimes costly. So costly, in fact, that a prominent study found that the average woman spends approximately $15,000 on cosmetics throughout her lifetime. Yikes!

Between the time and energy it takes to locate the most effective means of camouflage and then apply or maintain it daily, the ongoing expenses accrued by its maintenance and the regular annoyances caused, it might be worth looking into more permanent and effective solution. Every person deserves to live their best life possible, and facing everyday with confidence and positivity helps ensure the best possible outcome in any situation that may come your way.

If you think you may be ready to take the plunge, locate your local medical spa and take a look at the services offered - They may have just the answer you have been looking for. Beauty isn’t just skin deep, beauty comes from within.

Five Benefits of Facial Treatments

Your face is the first impression people get about who you are and how well you care for yourself. It can reveal secrets about your health, your stress level and if you follow a regular skin care regimen. Many people think that a facial is a luxury, but there are actually many advantages to these types of treatments. Here are five ways facial treatments benefit your appearance:

1.      Reduce stress -  We hold a great deal of stress and tension in our face. Fine lines and wrinkles, bags under the eyes and facial discoloration can be a dead giveaway about the level of stress in your life. Facials offer you a chance to sit back and be pampered while doing something beneficial for your skin. Feel your tension slip away as a trained aesthetician uses the most advanced skin treatments to take years off your skin.
2.      Improve circulation – Blood flow in your skin can slow as you age. This slowing also means that our skin does not renew as quickly as it once did.  A deep facial cleansing massages tissue and increases the blood flow. This will help to increase the production of collagen and improve elasticity as well as smoothness and suppleness of the skin.
3.      Deep cleaning – A facial treatment helps to remove dirt and blockages from the skin pores. It also exfoliates dead skin cells that can cause acne. Regular treatments can reduce the size of pores and decrease discoloration and irregularities on the surface of the skin. The end result is a healthy and youthful glow.
4.      Balance and tone – The stress of everyday life, pollution and even sun damage can create an imbalance in the pH levels in your skin. This can cause blotching and redness and create dullness. A facial treatment can help even pH balance and create an even skin tone.
5.      Slow aging process – While no one can turn back time, regular facial treatments just might make it look as though you have. A hydrated, even and smooth complexion can help take years off your appearance.

At Qwella Medical Spa, in South Jordan, Utah, we offer our clients a full range of facial treatments including fillers, facials, peels, laser treatments and other state-of-the-art services. Contact us today for a free consultation to discuss your concerns and develop a comprehensive facial treatment plan.

What Can You Do to Prevent Hyperpigmentation?

Getting older is not always a gentle process. While you work hard to eat right and exercise, your skin can make you look years older than you actually are. One of the most common skin issues as you age is Hyperpigmentation. It is generally a harmless condition, however it creates unsightly brown patches on your face, hands, and other areas of the body. These patches are typically caused by sun damage, but there are also other conditions that can cause this pigmentation issue. The most common forms of this condition include:

  • Solar Lentigines –This is also known as liver spots, which occur because of sun exposure and damage.
  • Melasma – This condition looks like age spots but is actually caused by hormonal changes including pregnancy and use of birth control pills.

Top 3 Treatments for HyperpigmentationThere are several different treatment options for Hyperpigmentation including topical creams such as hydroquinone, tretinoin and cortisone cream. Laser treatments are another effective procedure to help reduce the appearance of brown spots.

hyperpigmentation treatment1.      Venus Viva™- Another great alternative, which is offered at Qwella Medical Spa, is the Venus Viva™. This innovative, non-invasive skin resurfacing procedure is a non-surgical approach that helps improve the texture of your skin. The state-of-the-art advanced skin treatment uses NanoFractional™ Radio Frequency and SmartScan™ technology to smooth and even the skin surface. It has been shown to reduce the appearance of scars, skin irregularities such as rosacea and Hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, wrinkles, stretch marks and other concerns. This new skin treatment allows our aestheticians to cover large areas of the skin surface in one treatment.
2.      Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) – Also known as Laser Photofacial Treatment, IPL uses intense pulsed light to treat skin with sun damage, excessive redness, and hyperpigmentation. This treatment is effective for treating hyperpigmentation because it penetrates beyond the surface to pull up pigment and stimulates collagen production.
3.      Microneedling with Glymed Diamond Bright Serum – Microneedling is used to control micro-injuries in our skin and produce collagen and elastin. This process improves the appearance of skin irregularities including hyperpigmentation and acne scarring. At Qwella, we use Diamond Bright Skin Lightener in order to control UV induced pigmentation for all skin types!
